I have created a saddle stitched zine about the culture and history of my family’s migration story from India to Kenya in the mid 1900s.
The zine tells the story of the movement of my family, beginning in British India and ending in the UK.
My family fled India due to growing riots and violence as a reaction to the partition in 1947. Indians found safe haven in Nairobi, Kenya - this is where they settled for the next decade or so. Again, due to violence and rioting, my family fled to the UK to seek refuge from an increasingly unsafe country.
