The aim was to explore ideas around interpretations of the tangible and intangible through the lens of cultural exchange and visual communication.
Collages were created out of various materials and mediums, with the use of 3 words. This helped create semantic meanings behind the work. I chose to use the words Engage, Collage and Emboss for the first outcome and Connect, Distort and Draw for the second.
One of the collages were then developed digitally to emphasise the semantics behind the work. I then went on to develop the work created by someone else with entirely different semantics.
This was the original collage that I went on to develop, this was created by Sophie Keatley.
Her words were Connect, Layer and Construct.
These are my outcomes after developing Sophie’s work digitally. I expanded on the word ‘Construct’ by creating a city scape made up of brutalist architecture inspired by the building cut out that was on the original collage.
